HOW DO TANKLESS WATER HEATERS WORK?

A tankless gas water heater heats water directly without the use of a storage tank. When a hot water tap is turned on, cold water travels through a pipe into the unit, where a gas burner heats the water in an instant. As a result, the tankless system delivers a constant supply of hot water to your home.

BENEFITS OF A TANKLESS WATER HEATER

Reclaim square footage. A tankless water heater is about 80% more compact than a conventional tank water heater. When most clients install a tankless water heater, they’re also able to remove their old masonry flue. Consider two things: (1) a masonry flue takes up about 4-square feet per floor; and (2) the median price per square foot in Portland is $289 in Portland and $248 in Bend. Removing a masonry flue in a 2-story home with a basement will increase the value of the home by about $3,468 in Portland and $2,976 in Bend.

Protect indoor air quality. If your current gas water heater is atmospherically vented, there’s a chance that your system will backdraft, spilling large concentrations of carbon monoxide into your home. Tankless water heaters prevent carbon monoxide from entering your home by sealing the combustion process and direct venting any carbon monoxide outside.
