Duct Sealing
A heating or cooling system can only be as good
as the ducts that carry the conditioned air through your home.
Ducts are typically made of sheet metal, fiberglass, or other
materials. They can lose energy in two ways, by conduction of
heat through the material and by air leaking through cracks and
seams.
Not sure how to tell if your ducts need some improving? By having Green Savers test your home, leaks and pressure imbalances can be exposed. We use our diagnostics tools, such as a blower door, duct blaster, and digital manometer, to identify leaks and imbalances. Often conducting a visual check of your ducts, to look for holes or separated joints, will not always expose areas which are leaking. Ducts in your home are often "hidden" under floors or in walls, which limits the effectiveness of visual inspections.
Green Savers seals duct leaks with fiberglass mesh and mastic, mechanical fasteners, or foil tape - at no point in time should duct tape ever be used.

BEFORE: BROKEN OR HOLES IN DUCT WORK CAN CONTRIBUTE TO UP TO 30% OF THE HOMES LOSS IN HEATED AND COOLED AIR. RESULTS ARE HIGHER THAN NECESSARY UTILITY BILLS. |
AFTER: DUCT TAPE IS NOT AN
OPTION. DUCTS SHOULD BE PROPERTY SEALED WITH
MASTIC.
